AI Summary
Lionel Messi — 2022 Topps Paris Saint-Germain Official Fan Set Base #42
This is the canonical Messi card from Topps' official PSG set, capturing him in his first season at the club after leaving Barcelona. The 2022 PSG set holds steady collector interest as a documented record of that historic roster moment, and this base card of the sport's greatest player remains the set's anchor. It's not scarce in raw form—the set had reasonable print runs—but it's the card every PSG collector wants, making it perpetually liquid at low single-digit prices.
The $1.55 raw price reflects abundant supply and soft collector demand at entry level. However, the jump to $54.44 for PSA 10 is striking and reflects the classic grading premium: a mint example of this iconic card, authenticated and slabbed by PSA, carries real collector appeal and resale confidence. For this particular card, pushing to a PSA 10 is worth considering if you find a copy at the right price, since the psychological shift from raw to gem mint is pronounced with mega-star cards from recent sets.
This card matters to PSG completists and Messi collectors building career sets, but prioritize raw copies unless you're after a trophy-grade example.
